ACIM CoverA COURSE IN MIRACLES

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a complete non-dual self-study spiritual thought system. As a three-volume curriculum consisting of a Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers, it teaches that the way to universal love and peace—or remembering God—is by undoing guilt through forgiving others. Consequently, even though the language of the Course is that of traditional Christianity, it expresses a non-sectarian, non-denominational spirituality. The introduction to the book contains the following summary: “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”

ACOLA COURSE OF LOVE

A Course of Love (ACOL) is a three-book collection that heals you by a reading with your heart. It’s difficult to explain what a heart-based reading is and how this magnificent source of wisdom will bring a radical shift from perception to knowledge. Consider it as a ‘divine reading companion’ to A Course in Miracles.

“Our hearts take wing with joy and break with sadness…It is to our heart that we appeal for guidance, for there resides the one who truly guides.” (3.17-18)

SAMPLE IT: “It is your continuing desire to have a relationship only with the world without that causes such a world to remain.  This is because your definition of relationship is not one of joining.  What you join with becomes real.  As you take it into yourself you thereby make it real because you make it one with your real Self.  This is reality.  All you do not join with remains outside and is illusion, for what is not one with you does not exist.”

NTI AnandaPathaTHE HOLY SPIRIT’S INTERPRETATION OF THE NEW TESTAMENT

The Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of The New Testament (NTI) is a simple and clear New Testament Interpretation (NTI) that teaches oneness as the only truth. It answers your big question: “How do I become only love?”

NTI provides wisdom and practices that help us realize the difference between what is true and what is not true. When NTI is practiced, it clears away the cobwebs of confused thinking so one thinks, sees and lives in clarity. One who thinks, sees and lives in clarity knows the universal truth of love.

No one is incapable of realizing his/her true Self. There are thoughts in the mind that may refute this, but those thoughts are not true. If you are sincere in the desire to be only love and if you practice teachings like the ones in NTI, you will transcend all ideas that are not true. Without false ideas to block truth, truth shines naturally, and you will find love is what you are.

AtmaPatha considers it as a further ‘divine reading companion’ to A Course in Miracles.

WHO AM I?

whoami

Who am I? [ Nan Yar ] is the title given to a set of questions and answers bearing on Self-enquiry. The questions were put to Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi by one Sri M. Sivaprakasam Pillai about the year 1902. As recollected and recorded by Sri Sivaprakasam Pillai, there were fourteen questions with answers to them given by Bhagavan.

They clearly set forth the central teaching that the direct path to liberation is Self-enquiry. The particular mode in which the enquiry is to be made is lucidly set forth in Nan Yar.

YOGA VASISHTA SARA

Yoga Vasishta is an unparalleled ancient Indian scripture that lays the solid foundation of advaita / nondualism. It is written in the form of a dialogue between Sage Vasishta and Sri Rama, in which the doctrine of non-duality is explained with illustrative stories in between. A further condensation of this work was made long ago, by an unknown author, into about 230 couplets, divided into ten chapters, as Yoga Vasishta Sara (Essence of Yoga Vasishta) This is indeed a goldmine fit for sadhakas who long for repeated reading and meditation.

THE GARLAND OF RAMANA’S SPIRITUAL TEACHINGS

Ramana1

This is a collection of the principal philosophical poems that Maharshi composed. In these thirty verses Sri Ramana teaches us in a concise but extremely clear manner the exact means by which we can attain our natural state of true self-knowledge.

This has been pointed out to liberate us from the illusory bondage of karma or action, which appears to exist so long as we mistake ourself to be this mind and body, the instruments that do action.

SADHANAI SARAM – THE ESSENCE OF SPIRITUAL PRACTICE

Sadhanai Saram

This is a collection of several hundred Tamil verses composed by Sri Sadhu Om on the practice of self-investigation and self-surrender. A Light on the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi was written in Tamil verses by Sri Sadhu Om as and when the Maharshi’s devotees asked him for clarification.

The confusions the aspirants have on Japa, Bhakti, Self surrender, Self enquiry, the body and Yoga, True Satsang, Living Guru and dead, Guru, who is Jnani etc., are cleared in the light of Ramana’s Teachings.

THE PATH OF RAMANA – PART ONE

Path1a

This book also contains a brief biography of Bhagavan and a complete translation of Who am I?, Bhagavan’s own prose presentation of his key teachings. Part One explains the real nature of happiness and the reason why we can attain the eternal experience of infinite happiness only by practising ātma-vicāra — self-enquiry or self-investigation. Complete theoretical foundation of self-enquiry is also explained.

You may also study what true ātma-vicāra is and what it is not. The book explains in great detail why we can know ourself only by attending to ourself — ‘I am’ — and nothing else.

THE PATH OF RAMANA – PART TWO

Path2

No need to keep seeking, get ready to find : that’s the message of this second part. It has been called an ‘extremely dangerous book’ by nondualist practitioners around the world. Because the book is fatefully dangerous to the ego (Ahankara), as the instructions if followed can kill the ego in you and turn you into a happy wise liberated being.

Sadhu Om said : “I do not wish to please you by just giving you pacifying answers. I give you what I learnt from Sri Bhagavan.” The secret of Upadesha is openly disclosed in both Part I and II of “The Path of Sri Ramana”.

HAPPINESS AND THE ART OF BEING

HAB-cover

The author of this book, Michael James, spent more than eight years studying the original Tamil writings of Sri Ramana and of his foremost disciple, Sri Muruganar, in minute detail under the clear guidance of another close disciple, Sri Sadhu Om, and since the passing away of Sri Sadhu Om in 1985 he has continued to study and practise the spiritual path revealed by Sri Ramana.

Therefore the central focus of this book is on the teachings of Sri Ramana as expressed in his own original writings, and hence it contains accurate and carefully worded translations by the author of the whole of Sri Ramana’s prose treatises.

GURU VACHAKA KOVAI [ GARLAND OF GURU’S SAYINGS ]

GVK

In the late 1920s Muruganar, an accomplished Tamil poet who had lived with Bhagavan for several years, began to collect the verbal teachings of his Guru, Ramana Maharshi. Many of Bhagavan’s verbal teachings were recorded during his lifetime, but few of them were reviewed and edited by him.

Guru Vachaka Kovai is the biggest collection of Bhagavan’s spoken teachings that was thoroughly checked and revised by him during his lifetime. As such it has a unique place in the Ramana literature.

ANNAMALAI SWAMI : FINAL TALKS

Anna

This small book contains dialogues that took place between Annamalai Swami and his visitors during the last six months of his life. It is a continuation and a fitting conclusion to the talks that were recorded in Living by the Words of Bhagavan.

Annamalai Swami (1906–1995) was a direct disciple of Sri Ramana Maharshi who realized the Self after practicing Self-enquiry for decades. This experience gave him first-hand knowledge of how to perform Self-enquiry successfully, making his advice especially valuable to seekers. His teachings, which he delivered in plain, direct language, have been recorded in two books, both of which we recommend.

ELLAM ONDRE (ALL IS ONE)

Recommended to Annamalai Swami by Ramana Maharshi

Cover 6.16.26 am

This small, extraordinary book was written in the 19th century and has been translated from Tamil into English. The author is unknown. It was recommended to devotee Annamalai Swami by the sage, Ramana Maharshi, along with five other books, namely, Yoga Vasistha, Ribhu Gita, Ashtavakra Gita, Kaivalya Navaneetam, Swarupa Saram. (All available here for free downloads)

Ramana Maharshi said, “If you want liberation, write, read, and practice the instructions in Ellam Ondre.

The book explains how all the diversities in the world are essentially parts of a greater whole – or as the book sums it up: All is One.

SWARUPA SARAM

Recommended to Annamalai Swami by Ramana Maharshi

Swarupa Saram Free Book

SWARUPANANDA was a great Tamil guru who lived several centuries ago. His ability to silence the minds of his visitors was praised on several occasions by Ramana Maharshi. Though his chief disciple, Tattuvaraya, wrote prolifically, Sorupananda himself only wrote one small work: Sorupa Saram. Sri Ramana thought so highly of this work, he included it on a list of six must-read books that he gave to Annamalai Swami in the 1930s.

The text itself comprises 102 Tamil verses in which Sorupananda uncompromisingly declares his own enlightenment and then attempts to answer questions on the implications of being in this state.

THE SONG OF THE AVADHUT ( AVADHUT GITA )

dattatreyas_song_of_the_avadhut_with_sanskrit_text_idg181Of all the mystical treatises of ancient Indian literature, the Avadhut Gita, or “Song Of The Avadhut,” is one of the most eloquent and compelling.

Its theme is the unitive knowledge obtained through mystical vision, the knowledge of the eternal Self. This knowledge is not limited to the mystics of any one cultural tradition, but is universal among all those who have attained to mystical vision.

Men and women of all lands and all religious persuasions have experienced first-hand the eternal Reality, and realized It to be their own essential Identity.

THE SONG OF ASHTAVAKRA (ASHTAVAKRA GITA)

Recommended to Annamalai Swami by Ramana Maharshi

AshtavakraThe Ashtavakra Gita is an ancient spiritual document of great purity and power. Pure, because it is relentlessly one-pointed. Every word is aimed at triggering Self-realization — no suggestions for self-improvement, no rules for moral behavior, no practical wisdom for daily life. Powerful, because the mere reading—or repeated reading— of it can be enough to send a ripe mind reeling into Truth.

Master, how is Knowledge to be achieved, detachment acquired, liberation attained?

Ashtavakra said: To be free, shun the experiences of the senses like poison. Turn your attention to forgiveness, sincerity, kindness, simplicity, and truth.

THE ESSENCE OF THE SONG OF RIBHU ( RIBHU GITA SARA )

Recommended to Annamalai Swami by Ramana Maharshi

ribhu-gitaThe aim of Ribhu Gita is to remove all false ideas in us and help awakening from illusions that bind us to the ignorance of our true nature. Self alone is; it is without beginning and thus never-ending, since it exists outside our concepts of time and space.

The text is uncompromising document on non-duality. It asserts that only the Absolute is real and ‘That’, is all that exists. That there is nothing else which exists apart from the Self which is Brahman. Brahman is the Self (atman), our true indisputable being.

This awareness is moksha or liberation, which is attained by the way of knowledge (jnana) and the conviction that I-am-Brahman.
